Apple vs. Postal
***PLEASE NOTE: the feed has been changed to: feed://www.frederiksamuel.com/blog/feed/atom/ You have probably already heard about the whole Apple vs. Postal fiasco! It”s only posted on about 80% of the marketing/advertising blogs around the web. A couple of months ago Apple was accused of copying Luggz for their new iPod campaign. Now they are under fire again for copying the Postal video for their new intel mac ads.
It turns out to be a “false alarm” after all. “There”s a simple explantion why Apple”s new cleanroom ad looks just like a music video for The Postal Service: they were both made by the same people.”
My question now is, Why would you pick the same people? Especially looking at the whole negative feedback after the Luggz incident? Why would TBWAChiat Day let this happen twice? They have done some great work for Apple, but I hope there won”t be a third “coincidental copy”, otherwise Apple will be looking for a new agency.
What is your oppinion on this? Does it hurt Apple or does it just make TBWA look bad?

Disaffected!
By now, you might already know the term “advergame”. You know the online microsites where you can play a game and look at a company logo. Persuasive Games has come out with the first “Anti-game”, and it”s very appropiate. I remember the days waiting at Kinko”s and get raped by the bill.
Disaffected! - a videogame parody of the Kinko”s copy store, a source of frustration from its patrons. Disaffected! puts the player in the role employees forced to service customers under the particular incompetences common to a Kinko”s store. From a new series of persuasive games we call anti- advergames.
Disaffected! gives the player the chance to step into the demotivated position of real FedEx Kinkos employees. Feel the indifference of these purple-shirted malcontents first-hand, and consider the possible reasons behind their malaise — is it mere incompetence? Managerial affliction? Unseen but serious labor issues?

Aquafresh
I know you have probably seen similar executions many times before, but for some reason this one stands out to me. It”s usually a brith light source coming from the mouth of a person. But I haven”t seen this approach yet. I think this works well, and you still understand what they are trying to say.

Durex
I don”t usually display condom ads because i think they are just way too easy to advertise. But thanks to John for sending in this nice guerilla campaign, which is more of a fresh take on condom advertising.
